Paddle DNA Matcher
Already have a paddle but want something similar with one or two changes? Tell us what you've got and what you'd tweak — we'll rank alternatives by how close their specs are to your DNA.
How the Paddle DNA Matcher works
The Paddle DNA Matcher takes two inputs: the paddle you currently play with, and up to three things you would change about it. From those inputs the tool ranks every paddle in the spec database by spec-distance — paddles whose DNA is closest to your current paddle on the dimensions you want to keep, and meaningfully different on the dimensions you want to change.
The spec database aggregates manufacturer-published values for 20 paddles across every major brand. Each entry stores core thickness in millimetres, face material (raw carbon, T700 carbon, fibreglass, textured surfaces), weight in ounces, grip size, handle length, swingweight where published, shape (standard or elongated), build generation, MSRP, and approval status with USA Pickleball, the PPA, and the APP. The complaint tags map to weighted spec deltas — selecting "more spin" weights face material and surface texture, "more control" weights core thickness and dwell time, "lighter" weights static weight and swingweight, and "longer handle" filters on handle length.
The algorithm computes a normalised distance score between your current paddle and every alternative, with tighter weights on the dimensions you want to keep and inverted weights on the dimensions you want to change. No subjective preference data feeds the ranking. The top three results are paddles whose specifications best satisfy both constraints simultaneously.
